![]() ![]() Some ask: "Why’s there so many trains through Hamilton?"Īlthough today railroads mostly pass through the city, five original systems were built to serve local industries and transport passengers to and from Hamilton. Today, few Hamiltonians know a person who works for a railroad. Trains often block the 34 at-grade crossings in the city, there’s only two underpasses and an almost endless concert of locomotive horns echoing hundreds of yards from the source. Most Hamilton residents in 2012 consider railroads a nuisance.
